Buying context
The USB output digitises whatever the cartridge and internal phono stage produce, so a cheap deck will rip cleanly but won't sound better than its analogue output suggests. For serious archiving, a mid-range deck with a good cartridge will out-perform a "ripping-focused" budget model every time.
