Model history: The SL-1000R revives Technics' original SL-1000/SP-10 reference turntable lineage (last updated as the SL-1000 Mk3 in 1982) as a modern flagship, built around a newly-developed double-coil twin-rotor coreless direct-drive motor descended from the SL-1200G's, cutting wow and flutter to 0.015%. Its SP-10R motor unit is deliberately backward-compatible with older SP-10 plinths.

Who it suits
Best suited to: an established system where the amp, speakers and room can resolve what this deck retrieves from the groove. Less ideal for: a first turntable — the same budget goes much further spent on mid-range separates first.
