A carbon-fibre-skinned, granite-based audiophile deck with an inverted ceramic bearing and outboard motor.
Model history: The RPM 9 Carbon is Pro-Ject's upgraded successor to the RPM 9.2 Evolution, keeping the teardrop-shaped chassis but adding a carbon-fibre-coated, steel-pellet-reinforced plinth, a fully decoupled motor with quartz-lock speed control, and a new 9cc Evolution carbon-fibre tonearm.

Who it suits
Best suited to: an established system where the amp, speakers and room can resolve what this deck retrieves from the groove. Less ideal for: a first turntable — the same budget goes much further spent on mid-range separates first.

- Manual operation: expect to cue the record yourself. Check the exact manual for any separate end-of-side auto-lift or stop feature.
