Pro-Ject's simplest deck: a plug-and-play manual belt-drive with a pre-adjusted Ortofon cartridge and fixed tracking force — European hi-fi engineering at pocket-money price.
Model history: The Primary E updates Pro-Ject's original Primary turntable, moving the power supply into the deck itself (rather than housing it in the mains plug) and simplifying colour options to black only, at a slightly lower price.

Who it suits
Best suited to: a first turntable for casual, low-effort listening. Less ideal for: buyers needing a particular cartridge mount or upgrade path without checking the model-specific specifications.
Compatibility and setup
- Manual operation: expect to cue the record yourself. Check the exact manual for any separate end-of-side auto-lift or stop feature.
Good to know
- No built-in phono stage — use an amplifier with a phono input or add a separate phono preamplifier.
