Successor to the long-running Debut Carbon EVO: one-piece carbon tonearm, TPE-damped aluminum platter, electronic 33/45 speed switching and a pre-adjusted Pick it MM EVO cartridge. Made in Europe; no built-in preamp.

Model history: The Debut EVO 2 is billed by Pro-Ject as the replacement for the Debut Carbon EVO, moving to a new Pro-Ject Pick It MM Evo cartridge (co-designed with Ortofon) in place of the 2M Red, a die-cast aluminium platter with TPE damping instead of steel, and a CNC-milled aluminium tonearm bearing block.
Who it suits
Best suited to: a first serious turntable for an existing or planned amp-and-speakers setup. Less ideal for: plugging straight into passive speakers with no amp — check the built-in phono stage row above, and note most hi-fi decks still need external amplification.
