Denon's premium 16-pole direct-drive deck reviving its DP heritage line: 33/45/78 RPM, high-inertia aluminum platter, S-shaped tonearm tuned with hologram vibration analysis, and a bypassable built-in phono equalizer. Weighs 40.8 lb; dark ebony wood-grain MDF plinth.
The serious Japanese direct-drive alternative to the Technics SL-1200G in US hi-fi stores.
Model history: The DP-3000NE is Denon's modern reinvention of its revered 1970s broadcast-grade DP-3000 direct-drive turntable, reviving that heritage with a modern motor, updated tonearm and vibration control rather than being a straight remake.
Who it suits
Best suited to: an established system where the amp, speakers and room can resolve what this deck retrieves from the groove. Less ideal for: a first turntable — the same budget goes much further spent on mid-range separates first.
Compatibility and setup
- Manual operation: expect to cue the record yourself. Check the exact manual for any separate end-of-side auto-lift or stop feature.
Good to know
- Has a built-in phono stage, so it can feed a normal line input on an amplifier or powered speakers without a separate phono box.
- Sold without a cartridge fitted — budget for a compatible cartridge and setup before first use.
