Modern reissue of the 1980s Sound Burger portable record player: clamp-style belt drive, Bluetooth 5.2 output, RCA line out and a 12-hour USB-C rechargeable battery in a 2 lb chassis.
Viral retro hit that returned as a permanent US catalog model after the 2022 limited edition sold out instantly.
Model history: The AT-SB727 revives Audio-Technica's cult 1980s Sound Burger portable turntable, keeping its clamshell form but adding Bluetooth, a USB-C rechargeable battery (12-hour life), a built-in phono stage, and an improved cartridge.
Who it suits
Best suited to: a first turntable for casual, low-effort listening. Less ideal for: buyers needing a particular cartridge mount or upgrade path without checking the model-specific specifications.
Compatibility and setup
- The cartridge is fixed to the headshell rather than user-swappable — the stylus itself is usually still a separate, replaceable part, but you can’t fit a different cartridge model later.
- Manual operation: expect to cue the record yourself. Check the exact manual for any separate end-of-side auto-lift or stop feature.
Good to know
- Has a built-in phono stage, so it can feed a normal line input on an amplifier or powered speakers without a separate phono box.
- Direction not verified. Check the manufacturer connection instructions before choosing wireless speakers.
